Why would Michael Jackson leave his children with Katherine?

Why would he? His mother was nothing more then a doormat, whom didn’t even stick up for her children while Joe was beating and exploiting ALL those kids.
To me Katherine the mother is worse then Joe, she sacrificed her children for money.
Mother’s today go to prison for allowing any man to beat their children. People are ready to crucify Kate and Jon Gosselin b/c they are “exploiting” their kids with having that show!
So what gives, what makes her so “great” if she sat back like a darn mute and allowed this to happen not only to Michael but all her children? To me, those are the worst mothers ever, that just sit back and don’t say or do sh!t!
yes actually I have seen An American Dream. Honestly it just proves my point even more she is a terrible mother to allow her husband to abuse and exploit her children, she really should be ashamed.
eta… I honestly don’t expect an intelligent answer from a person with an MJ avatar, or user name. Sorry, their are thousands of woman who get beat everyday, but the moment the abuse turns on the womans kids, a real woman a REAL mother doesn’t have it, not for one second.
Stanger in VA, that’s bullshit “sweetie” My grandmother(my father’s mother) had an abusive husband too, he started beating on my father and his 4 other sisters. He would smack them in the face, use belts,paddles. My grandmother as a woman and a MOTHER left. That is what a mother does, not what doormat,spineless Katherine did. SHe hasn’t even divorced Joe to this very day!! Hope she likes her mansion hope it was worth it!
I am a fan of Michael. I do think that Kathy loved her kids, but shame on her for not protecting them. That was her job.

I don’t know that answer to this but I know its sad. I wish we knew But unfortunately I don’t think we’ll ever find out the REAL honest truth. All the things they say on TV half of them aren’t true, I listen to What HE said I pay attention to the videos of HIM talking and that’s what we should pay attention to not to All the liars on TV that are all saying something different.
Actually, one of the main reason Michael adored his mother so much was that, whenever she was around, she’d protect her kids from being beaten by Joseph. I don’t think she meant for anything bad to happen to them. I think she and Joseph agreed on one thing–if the boys make it big, they could get out of poverty and the children could have a wonderful life. I do think that if she could’ve predicted what would become of her family and especially Michael, she would’ve fought hard to keep her kids out of show business.
I think the answer is because it’s none of your business. THAT’S why he wanted Katherine to look after his children.
Um like you said, “today” its a different time sweetie. Back then, if she had left him the kids would have had nothing! Women mostly relied on the father to care for them. She made a sacrifice by staying w/ him. Katherine is an angel and perfection [in Michael's own words] so before you condemn her, realize what a hard decision she had to make! And you know that she stood up her children right? Get your facts straight before you go off on a rant full of loopholes.

I agree with everything you said.You couldn’t have put it any better.But I do think she loves her children and her grand children but she just was way too weak and passive.I guess he left the kids with her because he loved his mother regardless.

She did stand up to him if he went to far. Example when he completly battered MJ when he was 3 (yes, you read right) she was screaming “No Joe stop! Your gonna kill him!” but then again, he DID hit her once. But she told him if she ever did it again she was leaving.
MJ loved his mother alot, and it was clear she loved him. (Although she did sometimes use that love against him like talking him into touring with Jackson 5 again, when he didn’t want to). She stood up for him during those ’93 allegations when he was too frail and drugged out to stand up for himself. She went on TV
EDIT – I guess your right, but she was a Jehovah’s witness. She felt very strongly about making her marriage work and not getting a divorce. She forgave Joe alot of times, even when he cheated on her. She really should have stood up for them, but Joe isn’t involved with MJ’S kids. He isn’t allowed under court (Debbie Rowe dosen’t want him involed for obvious reasons), and he said he’s too old himself. So no need to worry, they’re in good hands

I believe after all Micheal went through with his parents, He still really loved his mom. She believed in him & Always sympathized for him. I honestly Believe she was scared of Joe & That leaving him would tear the family apart. Regardless, She really needed her own life, & Not to be riding on the coat tails of “The Jackson 5″.
You know what that was a stupid question who in the he.. do you think u r she’s his mother and as far as a good beating a lot of these bad a.. kids need one!! You need to leave Momma alone and get a clue!

You don’t understand the “atomic family” structure. It’s VERY different from today. The father was the one who did the correcting and punishing and the mother was the nurturer. And the way people corrected their children back then, today that looks like brutality. But think about it…look at the kids of today compared to the kids of yesterday? We grew up with morals and respect and weren’t out getting pregnant and joining gangs or talking about explicit sexual instances here in a public forum. The Bible says ‘Good fruit cannot fall from bad trees” so Joe cannot be all THAT bad. If it weren’t for Joe, no one would even know who Michael Jackson *was*. But back then, the men were the heads of the household. What they said went. It’s utterly impossible for someone of today to understand what life was like when Michael and I were growing up. It was COMPLETELY different in those days….
Michael loved his mother. He trusted her and they were his children and he loved them. It was his choice. I don’t see a problem. Who’s business is it anyway?
i think katherine was a great mother and im sure michael jackson felt the same way which is why he left his children to her. i admit that i dont like mothers who stand by and allow their children to be absued and do nothing, but times were different back them. maybe katherine felt that she couldn’t do anything. idk. but its important for ppl to remember that katherine and joe don’t even live together anymore, he lives in las vegas while she lives in encino, california. mj left his kids to katherine only, so joe has no right to them, and he won’t be the one raising them. he’ll probably just be the grandfather who visits occasionally which is good. mj was a good father and if he felt that katherine would be best for the kids then i think katherine is best for the kids
He knows what he was doing when he left his children to his mom Michael was such an amazing father I know he would leave his kids in good hands.
I have to say I agree, a mother is suppose to be a protector. Shame on her for staying with a man where she had to utter the phrase “enough Joseph, your going to kill him!”
Woman that stand by and allow abuse are failing that the ultimate job, of protecting their child
