Question by Bang Bang Choo Choo Train: How many of you have problems w/ John and Kate Plus 8?
I do not like my show, and I understand that it might be hard having a tv crew in your house, but seriously I hardly see them love on their kids, I see them hurry them out of a room or send them to timeout but I hardly ever see them hug or really praise their kids. Anyone else feel this way.
I give them credit, that is an amazing thing to acomplish, but My main problem is I never see the love, in one episode they all pleyed togther but never really see them play they go on outings, but normally mom or dad just watches as the children play.
There life seems to focuss around kate. When you are a parent the focuss of your life turns from you to your children and really I have yet to see that happen.

Well, having EIGHT small kids is a HUGE job .. I can’t even imagine!!

Just remember that they don’t show their lives 24/7.

I actually give them a ton of credit just to be able to go through their everyday lives without going completely crazy!

I have never really liked Kate even when the show first began. I thought she was rather mean & belittling to her husband Jon,but I knew she must be stressed raising 8 kids that small. It was interesting to see how they juggled day to day life. But, then the show got ridiculous. Trip after lavish trip and the constant degrading talk and I thought she was a little non caring at times to her children. I felt she was using them so she could get her moment of fame. That was what was important to her,then after the divorce, she transformed into this spray tanned, hair extensions,bleached blond,teeth whitened, FAKE Barbie doll want to be movie star. To see her interviewed was enough to make a person literally ill! I hope that this will be the last we see of her on TV!, but I’m afraid it will not be. I just hope those kids turn out OK, and are happy! I wish them each well.

APPLAUSE! I agree with everything that you are saying. Yes, when she was with Jon, all she ever wanted to do was to put him down. And then when she “lost him”, she blamed him and tried to show how much better she was than he. I think when she went through her “transformation”, that was the worst of her. She used to look like a normal Mom and now she looks like a superstar, and it seems like she expects to be treated as one. But you know what? Life doesn’t work out that way. If she were a very caring mother of eight children, she wouldn’t be so into her looks.

And now, I recently read online that she’s worrying about how now that her show is canceled, what will she do????? Ummm…go back to the real life and work? Stop being such a Naomi Campbell ripoff? Stop trying to control others? I hope so.

I agree with you. The least that we see of this woman is positive, yet we all wish the best for the kids. They’re all so cute!!!!

I have an aversion to reality TV for a reason, but I admit I have seen the headlines about these people so I decided to watch the show. Yeah, the kids are cute, but I had no idea of what this thing was all about. Ponys and rainbows it isn’t… I feel very sorry for these kids. They are being exploited and it seems as though the parents could really care less about them. I don’t think the parents don’t love the kids, but I think their “business venture” has turned out to be a lot more than they bargained for, and sadly the kids are not the top priority in their lives. I give Kate credit for being a shrewd business woman, because like it or not that is what she is, but the ethics behind this show are very questionable in my opinion. Others thoughts are worth hearing as well.

Kate, in my opinion, probably drove Jon away to other women. She is so horribly self-absorbed, and you can tell when all she talks about is how much her kids love her instead of pointing out good traits about her kids and her husband. As soon as her million dollar contract runs out with TLC she will probably bolt out of that marriage. I agree with you about the exploitation of her kids.

I mean for the large part I like the show – the kids are super cute and I do like the fact that they keep it real (I mean the show with the 17 kids and the very patient mom is a bit of a stretch). But every so often Kate really gets on my nerves. I think she’s a little OCD – I mean not walking on hotel floors barefeet and screaming her lungs out when the kids get a tiny bit of icecream on their shirts? She needs to live life a little, chill out and enjoy this phase while the kids are still young, but she seems really uptight (a little TOO uptight) at times. Like yesterday’s episode in Hawaii where she complained about the dumbest things when she should have been enjoying them. And I dont understand why she is so anti-sports or anti-nature or anti-outdoors. I was watching the show and shouting at her on TV – get in the water, you dummy! What is the point of going to hawaii when you have no intention of getting into the water. Geeez. She really gets on my nerves sometimes.
Her being a nurse doesnt justify her being bonkers over germs. I’m a medical technologist with a speciality in microbiology and even I dont lose my marbles over germs. LOL. In fact, the more you learn about “germs”, the more obvious it will become to you how inevitable it is to be in daily contact with them – and it isnt necessarily always a bad thing.

I completely agree! She nitpicks on every little thing, and it all has to be her way. You would think with that many kids you would learn to be a bit more flexible, but instead she just complains about everything that isn’t perfect. She’s obsessive about what they eat (she makes her life a whole lot harder in the name of being “healthy”, when it’s really not that difficult to do etc.). I can understand being stressed with that many kids, but nobody made her have children or undergo fertility treatments. There’s a difference between scheduled and insane. I think it’s just her personality though, she’s very controlling and would be even if she had one kid. Her kids are going to grow up to be really whacked out because their mother is so on edge, like I can seriously picture her doing the whole “NO MORE WIRE HANGERS” thing. I don’t see why they reward her with money for getting knocked up beyond what they can afford and deal with, yeah the kids are cute, but so are most kids.

i watch the show all the time and don’t think she’s a bad mom or anything i just think she’s stuck up, like when she got her tummytuck for free and she had the nerve to ask for a boob job, i mean whats wrong with her their already doing you a huge favor and shes always making fun of jon and he just takes it even tough you can tell by the look on his face he pissed and whenever he says anything about her she always denies it or gets mad. also shes always acting like its so easy to take care of like only 3 or 4 kids but most people arn’t on a tv show and both parents have to work full time jobs plus she has like 2 paid helpers and like 3 free one

idk i just think shes stuck up and alot of the things she does is going to come back to bite her when their older and she relizes you cant scedule evey little aspect of the kids lifes thier people and will do whatever there going to do

i just dont like her that much or mady

I can tell them apart too! The only ones I had trouble with at first were Alexis/Leah and Collin/Joel. But now i toootttally know =)

It seems that the show has reached it’s peak and now is headed downward. Maybe, because Kate does really believe “her fan mail.” She comes across brassy, rude, prideful, and self centered. I love the Roloff much much better! They are real heroes, rising above hard times and challenges while inspiring people around the world by their success and sacrifice. Kate on the other hand is worried if she can get bigger breasts for free while a kind natured doctor offers plastic surgery for stretch marks. Kate doesn’t care if she makes a fool of herself as she humiliates her husband in public. Kate is not afraid to hold her hand out on national TV and hinting she needs more, rather than humbly being grateful for what has been given her. Kate is the epitome of a narcissists. I think most Amish families with 12-15 kids would be more interesting then Kate! Take them off the air!

I know I would! It’s got to be the least entertaining, most uncomfortable show on TV. TLC really needs to stop with all the stupid baby and family shows! They used to be The Learning Channel. Where has all the learning gone? Now they are just the LAME channel!

Anyone else going to break out the Champagne when this show bites the dust? It’s already ‘jumped the shark’ so why not just throw ‘em overboard already? Does anyone even give a crap about these people? Or are you like me and ready for TLC to go back to showing cool shows about Egypt and ancient civilizations? Those were the good old days of TLC!

So, how did these people get their own tv show? I am well aware of the area they live(d) in, but am unaware of any contests, ect for a lame family to get their own tv show. Also, why in God’s name is this show actually popular? I can’t even go to Target without Jon and his crew of about 12-15 bombarding the store and making a scene just so he can buy shampoo and toilet paper like me and every other shopper in the place. Kate looks crazy, and since she now lives in Wernersville, she reminds me of an escaped luna tic from the state mental hospital. What is honestly the thrill of this show, and are all those brats theirs, or are they adopted? Also, are the brats different ages? Sorry, I never wasted my time watching the show, but seeing as how I live amongst popular “celebrities” well, I’m curious. Thanks everyone who answers.
Never seen the show, but I know from the local papers that they lived in Mt Joy Pa which is in Lancaster County, and moved to Wernersville, which is in Berks county Pa. Yes, I seen the douchebag named Jon at Target, which is in Reading, Pa.
I currently work in Mt Joy and grew up in Berks County Pa so bite me!

Some people have expressed thoughts like: “On TV, they’re a loving, energetic family; when the cameras are turned off, things are totally different.” Loving?? HUH? Just watching that show makes me stressed. The show is … ahem… all about Kate, a woman who has an insatiable celebrity need, with all the money, privileges, and pomp that come along with it. Unfortunately, she’s dragging down nine innocent people with her. I say cut this show completely before it’s too late.

Nope….I saw it coming to. That Kate is so mean to her husband it was only a matter or time before she drove him away. And frankly, I can’t blame him. He hung in there for a long run and now he’s tired of it.
