ergh so you want recommendations that suit her needs right?

Skins – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0840196/

Best (british) teenage drama around. I think you would probably like it too. It does have a lot of sexual content though, still highly recommend it.

Kings – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1137462/

It was recently cancelled, but i still highly recommend the first season. The show is a modern day retelling of the david and goliath story. Very well done show, and it probably has enough romance in it to satisfy your girlfriend.

Friday Night lights – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758745/

This show might turn her off at first (if she’s anti sports) but i assure you it’s not a football oriented show. The show takes place in a town which is obssessed with high school football, but that’s not the focus of the show, it just sets the ground for the story. This show is a drama at it’s core, and it has a lot of romance in it. I think you’d both enjoy it. Highly recommend it.

True blood – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0844441/

It’s a vampire /drama show, but for some reason girls seem to be the most infatuated with this one. IT’s a really popular show. I’ve only watched a few episodes but i say give it a shot.

Other current drama’s which she may like (not my recommendations, just naming them)

The secret life of an american teenager
90210
Degrassi: the next generation
Medium
Ghost whisperer
Gossip Girl

For sitcoms i would recommend

Two and a half men
The big bang theory
IT crowd (personal favorite)
Flight of the conchords (hilarious)
Weeds (very funny show, similar setting to desperate housewives)

For you in your private time

Breaking Bad – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0903747/

It’s on par with Dexter (if not better)

Hope that helps!

What is a good nighttime show that is on every week?

21 March 2011

Question by the answerer of questions: What is a good nighttime show that is on every week?
I’m trying to find a good nighttime show on NBC, ABC, etc. to watch every week and keep up with. One that has been eliminated from my options is House, because once Chase and Cameron left the show, it became boring and I stopped watching. What are your recommendations for a good, funny nighttime TV show that occurs weekly.
One thing that I do prefer is that it’s not on a Monday night, because I watch Jon and Kate Plus Eight on Mondays =].
Any info that you think I should know about anything just add to this.
By the way, in case this matters, I am a teenage girl, but I’m not necessarily not into the doctors shows and anything like that. I am open to everything.

Thanks!
Not like late night, I mean like from 8-10

What do you think about Jon Gosselin shutting down “Kate + 8″ ? Is he being a good parent or a hypocrite?

2 January 2011

Question by kystik83: What do you think about Jon Gosselin shutting down “Kate + 8″ ? Is he being a good parent or a hypocrite?

Good parent? Really? The kids have been filmed for almost they’re whole life. He decides he wants to stop the show when TLC takes him off? Do I think its in the kids best interest not to be filmed? Absolutely! But I think his timing is rather suspect. I respect your opinion but I think he is transparent a massive hypocrite. He is doing this to spite TLC and Kate.
@ carton size…Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think that the kids should be filmed at all. But Kate isn’t the only guilty party here. The BOTH started the show together. They reached the point of no return. If they show stops, how are they going to support his kids. If he has such a problem with being filmed, why is he making the his rounds all over tv? Larry King, GMA, The Insider, etc. If he wants privacy why is he blasting Kate all over the media and airing all of their dirty laundry. He wants revenge. He is only thinking about himself now and I think its disgusting.

Best answer:

Answer by Carton Size
Good parent.

Because now Kate is just in it for the money.
When they started, they had little to none, and needed the cash.

In other words….Kate is exploiting the family’s private life, for a quick buck, and is taking advantage of the fact that the family is broken up, and the show will get higher ratings.

Jon is being the good parent by trying to get the show off the air, because the kids shouldn’t be filmed when they are dealing with their parent’s divorce. That’s something that should be kept private for them.

the book multiple blessings by kate gosselin, is it a good book?

3 December 2010

Question by I <3 U: the book multiple blessings by kate gosselin, is it a good book?
Tell if u liked it bc i wanna go buy it but i wanna know what its about first

Best answer:

Answer by Count of Monte Cristo
When the book came out I noticed that the author is Beth Carson (along with Kate Gosselin). On the TV show “Jon and Kate Plus 8″, it has been shown that Beth Carson is a friend of Kate’s, so I assumed the book would lack an experienced writing style. I was wrong! This book is VERY well written with an excellent flow and time-line of events.

The story is told by Kate with details that go past what the TV show documents. One way to explain it is that the TV series shows the action while the book provides insight into the emotional roller coaster and thoughts experienced by the parents, immediate family and some volunteers. Kate does a good job of explaining the mental and physical stress of raising six infants, along with a set of twin toddlers. Kate didn’t paint herself as a saint and openly talks about the times she was wrong and as she stated “not winning any friends”. As a mom myself of multiples I thought the book gave an accurate portrayal of the stress of bed rest, carrying multiples, and the mental exhaustion that takes it’s ugly toll on relationships.

The book discusses the inital fertily treatment (an IUI), Kate’s hospital stay while on bedrest, their early days in a condo by the hospital and their first house (not the house seen on TV). Each chapter of the book has a personal photo from the Gosselin family which are fairly generic and similar to what has been seen on the TV series. But unlike the TV series the book goes into detail about the parents of Jon and Kate and other immediate family members. Those family members are mentioned lovingly quiet often which Fans of the show may find interesting.

The book does have many religious references, but are not stated in a preachy way. They seem to be made only to point out the reasoning behind decisions Jon and Kate made, and to follow the title/theme of the book Multiple “Blessings”.

I have noticed many negative reviews and it seems they are based on a personal disagreement with the Gosselin’s lifestyle. Of course everyone is entitled to disagree with the Gosselin’s — I don’t always agree with what I see on TV myself. BUT unfortunately it seems the majority of negative reviews have nothing to do with the contents of the book and more to do with the flood of recent tabloid press the family has received. The book doesn’t seem to be written to make themselves look good – but written more in a diary style. Whether you are a fan or a critic, I think you will agree that the book is well written. Multiple Blessings is a fairly quick read that is well worth it for anyone who is curious about this family or for someone who has struggled with raising multiples. Enjoy!

Q&A: Is Kate Gosselin a good example of mothering?

9 September 2010

Question by Mami Chulo: Is Kate Gosselin a good example of mothering?
I started watching the TLC show Jon & Kate plus 8 as it seemed to be an interesting insight into the struggles and joys of having so many children. However, as time went on I couldn’t believe the negative, nagging, controlling drama queen that Kate Gosselin showed herself to be! Frankly, the sound of her voice yelling once again, at a child or her husband because they weren’t doing something “right” made me grit my teeth! It became obvious that this is the true colors of this woman, and she really loves being the center of attention and cracks mean-spirited
jokes” at the expense of her husband &/or children for the entertainment of the cameramen! Kate, “Alexis would you like an alligator one day?” a beaming Alexis, “YES! I want an alligator!!” Kate, “well that’s too bad you are never going to get one!” grins at camera..!!! That’s just mean! Frankly, I for one am boycotting the show. I think the kids are cute but, I can’t overlook or try & ignore the “Kate Show” or in anyway support this mean, egotistical, control freak profiting while feeding her massive ego. How disappointing!
freckleface- of course it is necessary to be organized but is it necessary to be hyper-critical, not interactive and just plain MEAN!!! i don’t think so! Would you feel so overwhelmed if you had people cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry, supplying your food, nannying your kids………of course you wouldn’t! It seems as if the more Kate gets ($, vacations, mansion, services, attention for herself) the bitchier she becomes! I for one look to the family shows on TLC for inspiration and encouragement of good parenting….neither of which are evidenced by the negative shrew that Kate has shown herself to be! Look at Amy Roloff of “Little people, big world”, she shows a normal frustration, irritation with her kids behaviors at times, but that is always balanced with a loving concern and guidance & she actually does stuff with her children and ENJOYS THEM!!!!

Q&A: What do you parents think about John and Kate plus 8? Good parents or exploiting their kids?

Question by quintynsmommy: What do you parents think about John and Kate plus 8? Good parents or exploiting their kids?
I like the show, for the most part. But I really don’t care for Kate. I don’t have an opinion one way or the other on their financial motivations behind it, everyone has to make a living. But this family seems to take alot of heat and criticism, just wondering what other parents who watch think of Kate’s parenting style and disposition.

Do you think this is a good new title for Jon and Kate Plus 8?

23 June 2010

I thought of Gone and Hate Plus 8. Since Jon sounds like Gone and he does always seem to gone and Kate sounds like hate and she is hateful acting sometimes, and the 8, the 8 kids have to deal with all of this mess, they’re just innocent children than have been forced to live with a camera in front of them practically their whole lives, maybe that’s why Mady is always in an angry mood all the time.

So what do you think?

Do you think Jon and Kate plus 8 is done for good?

22 June 2010

I know there has been a season finale recently, and Jon as sued TLC network to discourage the filming of his children. Of course they probably won’t be on TV for at least a year or two I think.

However, do you think they will ever come back? Obviously not as Jon and Kate plus 8, maybe just Kate plus 8, or a one-hour special? I think they will.. whats your opinion?
