Question by gizmo2: Who else is happy to see the final episode of Kate plus 8?
I have never really liked Kate even when the show first began. I thought she was rather mean & belittling to her husband Jon,but I knew she must be stressed raising 8 kids that small. It was interesting to see how they juggled day to day life. But, then the show got ridiculous. Trip after lavish trip and the constant degrading talk and I thought she was a little non caring at times to her children. I felt she was using them so she could get her moment of fame. That was what was important to her,then after the divorce, she transformed into this spray tanned, hair extensions,bleached blond,teeth whitened, FAKE Barbie doll want to be movie star. To see her interviewed was enough to make a person literally ill! I hope that this will be the last we see of her on TV!, but I’m afraid it will not be. I just hope those kids turn out OK, and are happy! I wish them each well.

APPLAUSE! I agree with everything that you are saying. Yes, when she was with Jon, all she ever wanted to do was to put him down. And then when she “lost him”, she blamed him and tried to show how much better she was than he. I think when she went through her “transformation”, that was the worst of her. She used to look like a normal Mom and now she looks like a superstar, and it seems like she expects to be treated as one. But you know what? Life doesn’t work out that way. If she were a very caring mother of eight children, she wouldn’t be so into her looks.

And now, I recently read online that she’s worrying about how now that her show is canceled, what will she do????? Ummm…go back to the real life and work? Stop being such a Naomi Campbell ripoff? Stop trying to control others? I hope so.

I agree with you. The least that we see of this woman is positive, yet we all wish the best for the kids. They’re all so cute!!!!

I mean for the large part I like the show – the kids are super cute and I do like the fact that they keep it real (I mean the show with the 17 kids and the very patient mom is a bit of a stretch). But every so often Kate really gets on my nerves. I think she’s a little OCD – I mean not walking on hotel floors barefeet and screaming her lungs out when the kids get a tiny bit of icecream on their shirts? She needs to live life a little, chill out and enjoy this phase while the kids are still young, but she seems really uptight (a little TOO uptight) at times. Like yesterday’s episode in Hawaii where she complained about the dumbest things when she should have been enjoying them. And I dont understand why she is so anti-sports or anti-nature or anti-outdoors. I was watching the show and shouting at her on TV – get in the water, you dummy! What is the point of going to hawaii when you have no intention of getting into the water. Geeez. She really gets on my nerves sometimes.
Her being a nurse doesnt justify her being bonkers over germs. I’m a medical technologist with a speciality in microbiology and even I dont lose my marbles over germs. LOL. In fact, the more you learn about “germs”, the more obvious it will become to you how inevitable it is to be in daily contact with them – and it isnt necessarily always a bad thing.

I completely agree! She nitpicks on every little thing, and it all has to be her way. You would think with that many kids you would learn to be a bit more flexible, but instead she just complains about everything that isn’t perfect. She’s obsessive about what they eat (she makes her life a whole lot harder in the name of being “healthy”, when it’s really not that difficult to do etc.). I can understand being stressed with that many kids, but nobody made her have children or undergo fertility treatments. There’s a difference between scheduled and insane. I think it’s just her personality though, she’s very controlling and would be even if she had one kid. Her kids are going to grow up to be really whacked out because their mother is so on edge, like I can seriously picture her doing the whole “NO MORE WIRE HANGERS” thing. I don’t see why they reward her with money for getting knocked up beyond what they can afford and deal with, yeah the kids are cute, but so are most kids.

Question by MM: Has anyone else noticed that fans of the show John & Kate plus 8 are stupid?
I noticed recently that all the people who are really into the show John and Kate Plus 8 have something in common: They are stupid! I have yet to meet a successful, educated person who gives a crap about this show! It’s mostly gossiping, overweight, poorly educated women of low income that I see gravitate toward this show.

I personally thought the show was boring and dumb all along. I have no desire to watch two selfish people wrecking their kids lives! There is no telling what problems these kids will have when they grow up. Even if the show WAS good, I would feel bad watching it. These kids are being exploited and yet hardly anyone has the respect for human life to just STOP WATCHING!

Seriously, how hard is it to just change the channel? Are people’s lives so meaningless they actually find this entertaining? I just don’t get the fascination America has with bad reality TV.

So to the people who are fans: What is your IQ and what is your educational background? What is so entertaining about this show that you think it’s ok to contribute to what basically amounts to child abuse? Do you feel these kids will end up with mental problems from this show? If so, how do you feel being one of the people contributing to this?

And to the people who are not fans: Do you notice that predominately idiots like this show? What makes you hate John and Kate? Do you feel that this show will negatively affect the children later in life?

I don’t feel anything about the show, not a fan but I don’t hate it. If it went off the air I would not notice just like I don’t noticed it’s on the air now. I have not noticed anything either way about fans, I don’t know anyone who is a fan of the show. And yes I think the show will probably effect the kids later in life but I also think that without the show they would not be able to afford what they have for their kids, and they certainly couldn’t afford to put them through college or anything so you have to take that into consideration.

…to Oprah no less. Anyways, I read it is being canceled as of January 1st 2011 due to low viewership. I LOVE that channel. I love learning about new medical conditions and I have learned a lot and really have a lot of good memories watching that channel (dorky, I know). This is the station that launched Kate Plus Eight and 19 Kids and counting after various specials and I watched every episode from the very beginning thanks to Discovery Health. Heck, if it weren’t for Discovery Health maybe those shows would have never materialized. I love Dr. G and am a least a little consoled knowing that TLC is probably going to be picking it up. I hope TLC picks up other programs from DH too. I also started watching Skeleton Stories recently and find it quite fascinating…except for the fact they try to sensationalize it by playing scary music and having a creepy sounding narrator, it is about science and not about ghosts. But I quess when you struggle with low ratings you tend to sensationalize things to gain interest.

Sorry about rambling…

Yeah you’re right. As bad as it sounds, I’m starting to hate the older two kids…

Just change the channel and watch the equally annoying CSI marathons on A&E and Spike.

i just saw a commercial of an episode coming up where they are “going green” and it got me thinking of how incredibly fake that show is now.it’s good that they go green and everything but they shamelessly promote different products(like they spent 5 minutes talking about how they use some insurance company in the last episode of the season). it seems like that show is just one big commercial now. anybody else notice that?

I do! Those kids are just so darn cute. Leah and Aiden are my favorites, but they all are adorable. I watch it every monday night. All my friends watch it too. It’s awesome.
