Question by conservativeamerica: Do you like Kate in “Jon and Kate Plus 8?”?
It seems that the show has reached it’s peak and now is headed downward. Maybe, because Kate does really believe “her fan mail.” She comes across brassy, rude, prideful, and self centered. I love the Roloff much much better! They are real heroes, rising above hard times and challenges while inspiring people around the world by their success and sacrifice. Kate on the other hand is worried if she can get bigger breasts for free while a kind natured doctor offers plastic surgery for stretch marks. Kate doesn’t care if she makes a fool of herself as she humiliates her husband in public. Kate is not afraid to hold her hand out on national TV and hinting she needs more, rather than humbly being grateful for what has been given her. Kate is the epitome of a narcissists. I think most Amish families with 12-15 kids would be more interesting then Kate! Take them off the air!

I know I would! It’s got to be the least entertaining, most uncomfortable show on TV. TLC really needs to stop with all the stupid baby and family shows! They used to be The Learning Channel. Where has all the learning gone? Now they are just the LAME channel!

Anyone else going to break out the Champagne when this show bites the dust? It’s already ‘jumped the shark’ so why not just throw ‘em overboard already? Does anyone even give a crap about these people? Or are you like me and ready for TLC to go back to showing cool shows about Egypt and ancient civilizations? Those were the good old days of TLC!

So, how did these people get their own tv show? I am well aware of the area they live(d) in, but am unaware of any contests, ect for a lame family to get their own tv show. Also, why in God’s name is this show actually popular? I can’t even go to Target without Jon and his crew of about 12-15 bombarding the store and making a scene just so he can buy shampoo and toilet paper like me and every other shopper in the place. Kate looks crazy, and since she now lives in Wernersville, she reminds me of an escaped luna tic from the state mental hospital. What is honestly the thrill of this show, and are all those brats theirs, or are they adopted? Also, are the brats different ages? Sorry, I never wasted my time watching the show, but seeing as how I live amongst popular “celebrities” well, I’m curious. Thanks everyone who answers.
Never seen the show, but I know from the local papers that they lived in Mt Joy Pa which is in Lancaster County, and moved to Wernersville, which is in Berks county Pa. Yes, I seen the douchebag named Jon at Target, which is in Reading, Pa.
I currently work in Mt Joy and grew up in Berks County Pa so bite me!

1.they got their own show because kate was the first person to give birth to sextuplets AND twins.

Some people have expressed thoughts like: “On TV, they’re a loving, energetic family; when the cameras are turned off, things are totally different.” Loving?? HUH? Just watching that show makes me stressed. The show is … ahem… all about Kate, a woman who has an insatiable celebrity need, with all the money, privileges, and pomp that come along with it. Unfortunately, she’s dragging down nine innocent people with her. I say cut this show completely before it’s too late.

Nope….I saw it coming to. That Kate is so mean to her husband it was only a matter or time before she drove him away. And frankly, I can’t blame him. He hung in there for a long run and now he’s tired of it.

I thought the torment of 24/7 Yo! MTV Raps in the early 80s was the ultimate TV torment… But I would gladly endure countless hours of Flava-Flav over this junk.

And they are all saying the same information. If you missed the latest..Kate spanked her daughter. Seriously? I wanna know what you guys think about it all. I agree with all of you guys! Speidi, don’t get me started! I hate how the apology to Lauren from Spencer was fake! That really got me mad. I mean man up Spencer, he is such a loser an @$ $ but in the finally I liked Speidi more than Holly and her mom. She was acting so weird and gross. I absolutely hated them in that episode along with every other episode Holly was in..erghhh lol

It appears TLC is milking John and Kate plus 8 for all its worth. In a desperate attempt to save the ever falling ratings for the show they have decided to drop Jon and focus on Kate’s life as a single mother. they hope to appeal to the divorced sinbgle mothers club to bring their ratings up. My opinion is the whole thing will fail miserably. Kate has got to be one of the most hated women is showbiz right now. Add that with the fact that off air she barely spends five minutes with her children and I think this is a recipe for disaster not for Kate but for her poor children. The show has already costed her her marriage but it seems she doesn’t even care because she keeps doing every episode and is on a Talk show every five minutes like her children’s well being doesn’t even concern her or anything. she kkeps saying she can’t make it without the show but the Duggars had more children than that before their show and were making it then (BTW the duggars had a grand total of 16 children when they first appeared on live Tv and 17 when their show started). Long story short this trainwreck needs to get lost and try to repair the damage that she and Jon have done to thse children (there’s no its Jon’s fault or s*** like that its both of teir fault.) We need better role models for parents on national televison not two people trying to make a buck. if your going to parent on live Tv you need to set an example of how to parent not how to make money. but the question is will you watch. I know i won’t be tuning in.

I noticed recently that all the people who are really into the show John and Kate Plus 8 have something in common: They are stupid! I have yet to meet a successful, educated person who gives a crap about this show! It’s mostly gossiping, overweight, poorly educated women of low income that I see gravitate toward this show.

I personally thought the show was boring and dumb all along. I have no desire to watch two selfish people wrecking their kids lives! There is no telling what problems these kids will have when they grow up. Even if the show WAS good, I would feel bad watching it. These kids are being exploited and yet hardly anyone has the respect for human life to just STOP WATCHING!

Seriously, how hard is it to just change the channel? Are people’s lives so meaningless they actually find this entertaining? I just don’t get the fascination America has with bad reality TV.

So to the people who are fans: What is your IQ and what is your educational background? What is so entertaining about this show that you think it’s ok to contribute to what basically amounts to child abuse? Do you feel these kids will end up with mental problems from this show? If so, how do you feel being one of the people contributing to this?

And to the people who are not fans: Do you notice that predominately idiots like this show? What makes you hate John and Kate? Do you feel that this show will negatively affect the children later in life?

I don’t feel anything about the show, not a fan but I don’t hate it. If it went off the air I would not notice just like I don’t noticed it’s on the air now. I have not noticed anything either way about fans, I don’t know anyone who is a fan of the show. And yes I think the show will probably effect the kids later in life but I also think that without the show they would not be able to afford what they have for their kids, and they certainly couldn’t afford to put them through college or anything so you have to take that into consideration.

I mean like in terms of lifestyles. Personally I think Kate has gotten fake over the seasons. The Hayes seem more in touch with their kids and down to earth, you know?

I really hate how all the fame went straight to Kate’s head, and that the only reason the shows NOT boring is because Kate yells and fights like a maniac! I mean the Hayes live a calmer lifestyle WITH the addition of 2 kids plus 1 with a disability. But I do have to admit the Gosselins are ADORABLE!

BTW I just started thinking of this because they were on TV for like two hours straight this morning (or yesterday lol)

P.S. I know having 8 kids is stressful (blah blah) but still, the Hayes do it without having to yell or melt down.

I think it is ridiculous to have fame purely based on how many kids you had. It wasnt a miracle that they had that many damn kids…a doctor did it. So is that all I have to do to be famous???
I think Kate is a flake. I cant stand that show…I dont know about the other one…I have not had the chance to see it yet…I am going to take your advice and think it is better…maybe I will watch that one.

and just feel so horrible for them. I watch other reality TV shows, and have watched Jon and Kate plus 8 for years now, but last nights episode just made me feel like I was seeing something I shouldn’t be seeing….

Those poor kids. My heart just broke when Alexis said, “I don’t want you to leave anymore daddy.” I guess I could see this eventually happening a long time ago. Jon and Kate always seemed to have a somewhat dysfunctional relationship. I just feel so sad for them all.

As a parent yourself, what were your reactions when watching last nights show?

I am not a parent, but I watched it, and was immediately sorry that I did. I felt depressed. I feel very sad for the family, and whatever happens, I hope that the media/show did not contribute to whatever their marital problems are.

I haven’t kept up with the show for the past few months, but I had heard they moved into a new house. So I looked it up and this is what I see. I was shocked — and disgusted frankly. I used to LOVE the show because they seemed so down to earth and like a real family living in amazing circumstances. But now they seem like a huge sell-out — exploiting their children now to live in a million dollar extravagant mansion. I just don’t think I can watch the show anymore. They are no different than Nadya Suleman and her octuplets now in my mind. It’s no wonder she wanted to have all those babies after seeing what a money pit having all those children can be if you land your own reality show. It’s just very disappointing to me how Jon and Kate have changed.

Any opinions?
I’m not trying to say that they had that many kids purposely to make money like Nadya Suleman, so sorry if I made it sound that way.

Also, you CAN live in a “non-mansion” house with 10 people in it. My dad grew up in a family of 13 during the depression and they grew up happily in a modest five-bedroom farmhouse. Also, I had to share bedrooms with my siblings until I got into high school because I too come from a large family.

I’m just disappointed because Jon and Kate are no longer the simple “normal” family they used to be. No doubt they love their children, but they are just too different now in their mansion and rich lifestyle, and I will no longer watch their show.

I agree with you by benefitting by making so much money off of having so many children. I agree it’s wrong and messed up to get rich off it. But it’s mainstream media, they’ll get money as long as people find it interesting.

The reason I think Jon and Kate + 8 are justified and are not seceptable to such criticism as Nadya is for this reason. Jon works as an engineer or whatever, he was able to provide for his family without all their endorsements and media payments. It would be no where near as extravigant a lifestyle, but it’d still be a decent one for all those kids. Nadya has no jobs, and knowingly brought more kids into the world to basically be screwed from the start. Jon and Kate brought kids into the world knowing they could care for them.
