Kate Gosselin Vs. Michelle Duggar. What Do You Think Of Both Of These Moms?

I enjoy watching Jon & Kate Plus 8 as well as 17 Kids and Counting. I think the difference in the personality of Kate Gosselin and Michelle Duggar is interesting.
What differences do you notice in the 2? What do you think about them, in general? Do you enjoy watching their TV shows?

I too, love both of the shows, and admire BOTH moms for what they do!! I feel I can better relate to Kate’s parenting styles….and they keep it real for the camera’s. However, Im not saying that Michelle is not keeping it real. As she is! They are the way they are, as they are deeply religious, and thats what they base their family values on. I dont think she’s taking her children to the thrift store because they cant afford it, but simply because there’s more to life than name brand clothing, and trying to fit in! I take my children to thrift shops, as well as I have enough pride to shop in them myself…and my family isnt struggling. Its just that materialistic crap doesnt mean anything to me. So I can relate to her better that way! I think they both are very patient loving moms, and I admire them both, because no way could I handle more than the 3 Im about to have!
Well, I watch both shows and but I feel as if I can more relate to the Duggars. Michelle is just such a wonderful inspiration and a role model for all Christian mothers. I think its great that she teaches her children responsibility and that family comes 1st. Kate Gosselin is a great mom too but I think that unfortunately sometimes, her need for order and control gets in the way of her enjoying her children. Too much emphasis is placed on appearances and I also feel that sometimes she is quite harsh towards her husband. Either way though, they are great shows to watch and give me a lot of good ideas for me to use with my own family.
Michelle Duggar is brainwashed…there is something really wrong with her I feel. I think her husband has her trapped into this lifestyle where all she is is a “vault” to carry his brood. I dunno, something just doesn’t sit right with me about those parents. And I feel bad for their children…it’s just a little ridiculous if you ask me.
While Kate Gosselin is a little over-the-top at times, I do think she is a good mother who tries her best. Those kids are well-behaved, adorable children. She accepts them all as unique children, and doesn’t try to make them into something their not, like I feel the Duggar’s do. I definitely prefer Kate and the Gosselin’s over the Duggar cult.
I watch Jon & Kate+8 sometimes. Honestly, I really don’t care too much for Kate Gosselin. I know it must be frustrating to care for and discipline 8 children, 6 of whom are very young, all at the same time. I know having that many children you have to be in control, but sometimes I feel like she is being a real b*tch to her husband, lol. She seems to try and boss him a lot and she talks about her children sometimes like they are superior to others. That does bother me, although I have to hand it to her, having that many kids must be challenging. I haven’t watched 17 Kids and Counting yet, but it is a show I might consider watching.
I caught the 17 kids and counting show the other day and well I don’t get it!! This woman had 17 kids and is expecting another I think it is gross!! Before you give me thumbs down keep reading.
There is no way she or her husband can be parents to any of the children, they can not have a bond because there are so many of them and the older ones are left to raise them. It is sad!!!
This woman is a baby factory and nothing more, to have that many kids she has had to be pregnant non stop for 18 years!! It is not cute to have that many kids, in the old days families had a lot of kids to ensure the survival of the family name because death was common at young ages but today there is no need to have that many kids!!!
This woman should have her tubes tied!! Those poor kids don’t know what it is like to have a bond with their parents!! It is physically impossible to bond with that many kids. There are only 24 hours in a day!!!
I’m with Lisa- the Duggars are way too religious for me. Humans were not meant to have that many kids. She needs to STOP and find some birth control. I can’t deal with the brainwashing in that family. And them accepting a new TV show tells me that they need financial help, as the show will pay them, even though they say they are fine financially.
Kate is a witch sometimes- my hubby would NOT deal with me being snarky with him all the time. Luckily Jon can take it and dish it back to her. She didn’t go into it intending to have 8 kids, though. She does good by those kids, though. They are well-behaved for the most part, and not because she shoves the “Fear of God” into them at every turn. And sure they make money off the show, too (they would have a hard time affording those kids without it), but she’s never pretended to be well-off without the show.
I think Kate is a more modern mom. Michelle is nice but she drives me crazy. They Duggars are raising their kids to be sexist. The boys in the family do very little to help out when they go on their trip the girls pack and do everything. I like watching both but I feel like Kate is more realistic. I love Kate and her kids. She does her best to give her kids as many opportunities as she can. Michelle shelters her kids and doesn’t let them be their own person. It’s fine for the younger ones but the older ones have zero freedom.
I really like Jon and Kate plus 8 she keeps her kids on a balance all the time and does fun things with them and you could see the children are happy they are great parents. Now 17 kids and counting I mean I admire the lady for having 18 kids i would’ve gone crazy if I had 5 kids myself talk about 18! there is no reason why someone should have that many kids maybe for the publicity she probably would’ve known that she would be on TV someday.
i love Jon and Kate plus 8. i think she is a great mom she seems to have everything in order and good kids. especially for having so many.
i do think she bitches at Jon WAY to much and is kind of demanding but i really love the show.
i have never liked the dugger family. i just do not like the show and not meant offensively but i really disagree with the way they are. and how they raise they kids but that is just my opinion.and ever one can raise their kids the way they please i have seen the show once or twice and you are right she seems to have a lot of patience.
I do enjoy watching them for different reasons. I find Jon & Kate Plus 8 rather entertaining in that i have a similar parenting style and they never take themselves too seriously. I watch 17 Kids and Counting for the same reason people go to view a circus freakshow. Their values are completely different then mine and I just cannot comprehend why anyone would want to have that many children.
Kate is more normal and down – to – earth. She was just a typical mom who wanted to have one more baby; she didn’t set out to have sextuplets. I’m sorry, but there’s something robotic and very creepy about Michelle Duggar. While Kate isn’t afraid to show it when she’s stressed, Michelle has an unnatural and rather fake composure.
I love kate Gosselin I feel like she’s a great mom and her or the kids arent struggling they stay dressed to impress in the best (GAP- my favorite store) They take trips and have all the advantages as if it were only 2 kids. …….
Michelle Duggar is a great mom as well but I think she is going over board and really cant afford all the kids she has, she has to shop at the goodwill for her kids on one episode she’s taking the girls to a thrift shop to pick out clothing.
I love Jon and Kate plus 8. I can totally relate with them because I have 8 children but fortunately I don’t have sextuplets and twins – only one set of twins and 6 single children. My house is a madhouse like hers and so many things she does remind me of my family. I think Jon and Kate are amazing people and you can see how much they love all of their children.
They are an amazing family.
I’m watching the 17 kids + counting right now for the first time. I think the mother is very calming with all her children. I am amazed. I wouldn’t want to be in her shoes. The other mother is good at dealing with her large family too but she and the Duggar family wanted these kids so I think that makes all the difference.
I am amazed they keep having more and more kids. How do they support them all? Wow.
I’ll get some thumbs down I’m sure but I don’t like Kate Gosselin. She’s constantly rude to her husband and she yells at the kids for little things (like when the little boy got gum on the blanket).
And the 17 kids show? Seriously how can she adequately bond with ALL of them? I mean there’s not enough time in the day to spend good quality time with that many kids.
I’ve seen the television ads for these shows but never actually watched a whole episode of either one.

Also, why do the Duggar girls wear those dresses all the time? Can’t they let loose and wear some comfortable jeans or something?
Kate Gosselin is great to watch. I feel that is she shows her true personality on her show. I feel that I can relate to her sense of humor and OCD complusions. Also her husband is funny to watch too. Michelle Duggar is amazing, but I am just not on the same planet as her and her family.
Amazing that they can do what they do, I really liked Kate Gosselin… until I heard that she sleep trained (practiced CIO). I don’t like that. Not in jive with my parenting style at all.
On a similar note, the Duggars do something called “blanket training”. New babies are put on a blanket to play and disciplined if they stray off the blanket. Eventually they learn to stay on the blanket. Kinda sad if you ask me!
I like Kate because thats the only show I have watched. I really want to watch the duggar family, but I can never find it on whenever i turn on the TV. I really admire both of them, obviously they both have patience lol you’d have to!
I’m not a fan of the Duggars at all. Not because of how many children they have or their religious values. However when I heard about the whole blanket training thing years ago it turned me off completely.
That being said I can’t really relate to Kate either.
I love Kate. She shows how it REALLY is lol I love when her and Jon argue….. I also like seeing (about) how my baby boy may look! They have a budget and she sticks to it.
Michelle cannot do it. She needs to stop…. She can’t afford those she has.
I love watching jon & kate plus 8! I watch the duggars too, but I just feel like sometimes they r faking it. I just don’t understand how there isn’t chaos!
Jon & Kate just seems more real. I think the duggars are extremely sheltered! And no kissing before marriage, what the crap?!
I love both shows, but I relate more to the Gosselins. The Duggars to me are just out there, I just don’t agree with some of their ways but oh well.
I love both the families. I think they both have lovely families. Kate Gosselin can be a bit over whelming with her compulsive organizational problem, but you know we all have our quirks. I do like the Duggar family, and I think its wrong that people can so easily judge how her parenting is when they have never met the family.They appear happy, and their kids are behaved because that is how they have been raised to act. I think they are both extrodinary mothers, even if they have some quirks. We all do
