Ethically, is she correct? Should taxpayers bear the brunt of the healthcare and other costs of raising children because fertility is promoted in our culture?

Hell no. That woman is acting like a spoiled brat. Clearly she hates her life (have you watched that show?) and is trying to pin her responsibility on “society.”
She should be grateful that TLC is willing to pay her to exploit her family…..there are countless families with multiples that have to rely on real jobs to take care of the fam.
No. The taxpayers didn’t make her take that path to have children and does not owe her anything. There is no fedral laws requiring women who have trouble getting pregnant to use fertility drugs.
Fertility drugs are promoted by profit making companies and doctors that specialize in this field. If anyone should be required to help them it is these companies and doctors.
From an ethical standpoint one can argue both sides effectively and I would love to see the argument played out in a high court. I would conclude however that Ms. Gosselin is intelligent enough and has the insight to recognize that the consequences of using fertility drugs do not preclude her from taking personal responsibility.
No! When you decide to treat your vagina like a clown car, you decide to accept the consequences of your actions. It seems like all of a sudden all of these woman are on the news like “Lookit me, look how many babies I can squeeze out!! Put me on the tv…… and then the taxpayer can pay for the little brats.”
Nope, you have 50 kids and then all of a sudden realize kids are expensive? TOO BAD! I’m not responsible for you or your litters.
No way, they chose to have that many kids and now I hope they live their lives in poverty.
As an interesting aside – I am amazed that people are surprised that the guy was cheating. Literally no man wants to have 8 kids. I could only imagine the sucking sound he heard when he learned his wife was pregnant with 6 and wasn’t going to use selective reduction.
society should not have any responsibility for childeren. Whenever we give people extra help for childeren we then encourage them to have more……If they cannot take care of the responsibilities they currently have why should we spend tax money to give an incentive for them to cost us more?

And, NO, society shouldn’t be responsible for helping these morons. To think it should be is nothing short of retarded. As others have already pointed out, nobody is forced to take fertility drugs.
Society doesn’t owe Kate anything but PA should be entitled to collect the near $2 million they shelled out for the birth and NICU charges for the six. They should also get the money back for the full-time nurse that Medicaid gave Kate for one year after the babies got home.
Nooooooo. It’s the individual’s choice to use fertility drugs, society doesn’t make them do it. Pfffttt….what a cop-out, huh?
