I got offered a TV show, but don’t want to end up like Jon and Kate Gosselin!?

10 April 2010

Okay, so the other day I got a call from a TV channel asking me if I wanted to do a TV show. It’s not TLC, they are not trying to replace Jon and kate plus 8 with me, but they said they are “interested” in my family and life. For those who don’t who I am a SAHM, with twins and quadruplets. I mean, we don’t need the money, or the memories, we have a video camera and I am content with my life, but it may bring More opportunities for my kids. I really don’t want to end up like Jon and Kate gosselin, for their awful mess. My husband and I have been talking about it, but I wanted to ask the public opinion. Do you think I should take it. The only reason I would do it is for more opportunities for my kids, but i’m not sure. What do you think?
Many people are saying I don’t have a very large family, and I know, my family is a lot smaller than many families in this world, but I guess they find my family interesting. It’s pretty basic, we live just outside of LA, I have 6 kids, my husband works as a part-time actor, i am just a SAHM. Some others are saying yes, and thank you, i’m not sure if your interested in watching the show or just saying random answers, but thanks. We have still not decided. I don’t want to exploit my kids, and I don’t want the paparazzi passsing rumors and being rude about my family.

  1. Yeah

  2. Take the show as long as your kids won’t be filmed more than an hour a day and make sure not to cut your hair into that horrible 80s spikey thing and don’t let your husband wear Ed Hardy or pierce his ears.

  3. What’s so special about your life?

Not to sound rude, but your family isn’t all that large compared to other families on television. And how would they have found out about you in the first place?

ps, There is no more Jon and Kate Plus 8.

  4. do it :)

  5. If you feel comfortable with it and if you believe it will help your children with more opportunites then I say go for it. But if you really don’t feel comfortable with it then I wouldn’t. Maybe you can see if you can try it for a little while and if you are comfortable keep going but if not then just be like thanks but no thanks. I think you should go for whatever you are comfortable with no one is going to think any less of you if you say no. I hope this helps you but in the end it is your and your husband’s decision and remember its going to effect your children so maybe family discussion? Depends how old your kids are. If they are too young then you are going to have to explain everything to them if you say yes.

  6. Remember, they’re going to edit it to paint you however they want you all to look. Would you be prepared to be completely misrepresented for the world to judge? And your spouse? And your children?

  7. I think you need to have a dozen or so more kids before anyone will watch…unless of course there is something else that stands out about your family. Perhaps you’re all little people? Or giants? Or zombies?

  8. To be honest I am sick of these shows about larger families. Besides the fact that they have more kids, the lives of most of the people on those shows aren’t that special. And I don’t know what your family brings to the table, its not even as big as the other ones. I suppose if you want a some money and a little bit of fame you could do it but other than that not much good could probably come from it.

  9. I'm Awesome is TTC #2!

yeah ok, whatever you say. keep living in lala land. have you taken your meds today?

  10. I would say a definate no. I don’t mean to be rude, but Jon and Kate were probably thinking the same thing, when they were at your stage. Once again, I am not trying to be rude, but I do not think this is a good idea at all. Would your kids really want every tantrum, every breakdown, shown on national television? No. When they are older and going to school, kids may have seen them grow up. Also, the footage that is recorded could be interpreted in many ways. Your whole life cannot be shown in hour long shows. I honestly would say NO NO NO! I feel very strongly that having this tv show may take away that special time you have with your children. Whatever you decide, good luck!
