do you think that kate gosselin was wrong for hitting her daughter outside when she’s under enough scrutiny about her and her family and when she’s not used to hitting them like that because she’s usually putting them in the corner.

Spanking over a whistle come the hell on. Children make noises. I don’t think this women should of had children.
I do not agree with spanking at all in my opinion its a lazy way of parenting. Sure the child stops the behavior for the moment. I personally think spanking is just to make the parent feel better. Its like an adult tantrum. An adult looses control of theirselves and takes it out on their child. Its a very good way of having your children fear you instead of respect you. Personally I rather have my children respect me. But thats just me.
I’m not going to judge her for spanking her child. I don’t think spanking is wrong. Nobody knows what she “usually” does because they’re lives aren’t captured 24/7.
I can say, from experience, that with my ONE toddler, I started with taking away toys, it worked for a while then I had to use time out, which worked for a while, and then didn’t. Kids are smart, they figure things out, and maybe her mother had to do what she had to do accordingly. With that said, I have ONE toddler, she has a hell of a lot more!
Nobody should judge her for it. Even though the world will do so anyways.
No. Why should she change the way she disciplines her children, especially considering the number of them, just because she’s in front of a camera? The woman has 8 kids to care for, for God’s sake. Give her a break. The real problem here is the fact that people were hiding with cameras waiting for her to spank one of them so they can blow it out of proportion. I WISH someone would try to tell me I can’t spank my child. Saying they don’t spank their own or disagreeing is one thing but it’s nobody’s place but the mother’s to decide on their own child’s punishment.
Why does it matter about who she is? You no that if a just some ordinary women spanked her kid in public people wouldn’t look twice, but now we have to make a huge deal out of it. She did not beat her child, she spanked her. And there is nothing wrong with that if the child is old enough and if its used in the right situation.
i think it’s absurd that she’s being scrutinized for punishing her kids. this is why so many parents feel like they can’t discipline their kids in public…b/c somebody is bound to have a problem with it and report the parents.
i don’t think she was wrong at all. lots of ppl spank their kids. why is it such a big deal if she does, too? it’s not illegal, it’s not abuse, and she’s not beating her kids.
Yes, Leah deserved that spank on her bum, if any kids i have don’t listen to me to stop doing something and they continue i would also spank them. Gosselin must have hit her hard as Leah was crying and holding her bum after just one hit, then again children always attempt to protect their butt from further spanks after one has being administered.
OK Two Items to address here.
#1 IF you spank your kids in the first place…you should have the balls to do it ANYWHERE the kid is acting up. Spanking is a form of discipline and it isn’t something that needs to be hidden. So no I don’t think she was wrong ….stupid maybe ….because there’s bound to be a hail storm of media criticism about it…but “wrong” ?? NO.
#2 I don’t watch the show, and all I know of her is the tabloid titles at the grocery store check out line…and I had developed a pretty negative opinion of her based on the crap I read there…But honestly, THIS headline is actually causing me to reassess my opinion of Kate Gosselin. I actually have MORE respect for her than I did previously.
spanking is a fine form of punishment its just the over zealous idiot women that have a problem with it. funny thing is most of those idiot women dont even take care of their kids the daycares do. They just like to spout their mouths off.

Spanking is wrong whether it is in public or not. Doing it in public made it even more humiliating and demeaning to the child. When an adult results to hitting a child, it shows they have no self control or power in the relationship.
i think she made a big mistake by putting herself and her family in the spotlight……i mean COME ON!!! eight kids? who the heck wants that kind of pressure, while at the same time living in the limelight?
she set herself up for it, now she has to pay the price.

Considering I don’t spank. I would have to say yes, she was wrong. I have never seen the show and don’t particularly give a crap about it. I am curious why it has such a big following. Whats the attraction?

Why does she have to curb HER punishment just because the paparazzi wants to follow her around and scrutinize her every move. If it wasnt that they would have just seen or found something else.
Don’t think its wrong. Her child, her choice of discipline as she sees fit. Btw, people need to get it in their heads that spanking is not abuse, nor does it teach a child to be violent.
Why does it matter if she did it in public or not? It is wrong either way? i do not understand why people care so much. It is not my business how she deals with her family. I worry about my own.
I think that it doesnt matter what she does with her kids or how she parents them. People are stupid for scrutinizing, the same ones that are scrutinizing something so simple as parenting are the ones that have horrible children
