I used to really like the duggars and as a Christian myself, I really looked up to them.
However I stopped watching the show when I found out that they made 50K per eposide and that there house was paid for by “Extreme home makeover’

I think the way they parent is great but they don’t have the same stressors that most parents have. Number one, Being the provider for them.

What do you think about them and how they are raising there kids?

The duggars, the Rolloffs, Kate Plus 8. The little couple,…then Latest one. Little Couple BIG Charlie.
Season One started off where they were living in a Small Apartment with a baby and by the second season they had a larger house..They live off her Sectary job while he is a SAHD in a Huge House (Bull)

Reality TV these days, has be turning off the TV more and thanking God for my normal life.

i think the duggars are freaks. every time i watch that show i feel terrible for the older children still living in the house, because they are the ones taking care of the younger ones. i never see the parents doing anything. and, its not good for those children all around because what kind of time do they actually get with their parents one on one? probably none. and i think that woman is WAY too old to be having kids still, because before you know it they will be having a special needs child due to her age. its just not right.

it seems to me like the older kids are being forced to raise the younger ones so the parents can screw like bunnies. its terrible.

Ok if u were a celebrity family and u had a chance to have your own show where camera’s were constantly following u and your family around inside your house to record every conversation and every moment of your lives for a TV show (like Run’s house or Jon & Kate Plus would u want to do it knowing that it would make u a lot of money? I would never do a reality show, period. Those things are so scripted, and I like my privacy. Also, do you see how hated the Kardashians are? I’m sure the money’s good, but I’d never do a reality show.

Man i am getting really sick of this, I was furloughed from my pilot job in February so I really have not been home steady for 3 years. My wife is not the same just gets in tune with TV shows pointless ones such as John and Kate plus 8, baby shows on TLC, big brother, Batchlorette. She works on weekends and 3-730 3 days out of the week. I love out door activities being active softball, and hanging out with friends. She never comes with or likes to do anything then watch TV. I have to admit in the winter i do watch TV, but it is in the summer in Michigan. We went to her parents place in northern Michigan where there is a ton to do what did she do watch TV. I am so frustrated I bet she watches that thing at least 6 hrs a day. I try talking to her about it she tells me to mind my own business.

Last night I dreamed I was watching some hokey movie about a family that had about 10-12 kids. You know the type: goofy-looking dad, pretty mother, cutesy kids and a pair of twins that get up to mischief. It was like “Cheaper by the Dozen” but the family were African-American. The plot was really lame and forgettable.

It was only after I woke up that I realised that I’d watched lots of movies like that in real life – but never about a black family. And there are reality TV shows like Eighteen and Counting and Kate Plus 8, but I didn’t know of any about African-American families squeezing out 18 kids or something.

And I guess now I’m wondering: why not? I’m pretty bored with shows like the Duggars, but a show with an African-American family might be refreshing (until I got bored with them as well, anyway).

PS: Please do not say the Cosbys or Family Matters like they did on some other question, because they only had 3-4 children. I’m talking 8-20 children.
Such families might be rare in real life (even though the Duggars are on TV), but for a movie one could hire actors to play the roles of the family members.

No. Never! Those shows only want to exploit kids. They don’t care if it’s good for their well-being. They only see ratings and money signs. Do your kids a favor and let them be kids. If they want to act someday, let them decide when they get older. Being on a reality show is a false sense of being famous. It’s not famous for being talented. It’s famous because they embarrass themselves.

I will be heart broken if Jon and Kate from the the tv show “Jon and Kate Plus 8″ split up. I don’t want to see those innocent 8 children go through something like that. Plus I love that show! and I want the family to stay together.

i was wonder if anyone knows of any movies that show the good sides of being a stay-at-home mom or a homemaker. (can be from the 1940′s to modern day.

any movies with a specific scene or a sitcom show. (maybe like leave it to beaver, i love Lucy, the Simpsons, family guy any show that has a mom that a homemaker)

also, looking for any clips from The Simpsons that show Marge being motherly, i guess that’s the word.

also a clip from Jon and Kate Plus 8 where she talks about being a stay at home mom.

It’s for my Women’s Studies project.

Yes they do, nearly everyone on reality television does, for example on big brother, whether you win or not houseguests get $ 750/week just for being there! Everyone gets paid, plus the piblicity alone gives them tons more opportunities!
